MAXTRAX was born from a passion for exploring Australia's most remote places.
Founded by Australian adventurer and entrepreneur Brad McCarthy, MAXTRAX was inspired by years spent travelling the country and helping others get off the beaten track through his iconic Dirty Weekends adventures.
Time spent in the bush, on beaches and deep in the outback highlighted a common problem faced by four-wheel drivers — getting stuck and relying on complicated or unsafe recovery methods. That experience led to the creation of MAXTRAX: a simple, effective vehicle recovery solution designed to help drivers recover themselves and keep their adventures moving.

Born From a Need for Better Recovery
MAXTRAX was created with a simple goal: make vehicle recovery safer, easier and more reliable.
After seeing the limitations of traditional recovery methods, founder Brad McCarthy set out to develop a recovery track that could help drivers self-recover without relying on winches, snatch straps or another vehicle. The result was a lightweight, durable and highly effective recovery device that changed the way people approached off-road travel.
