The 2021 MAXTRAX Open Day last month was the highlight of our year over here at MAXTRAX - an absolute cracker of a day to celebrate the opening of our new HQ! Chock-full of incredible vehicles, special guests, top 4x4 brands, music, refreshments, and prizes. A massive thank you to everyone who came along, we were blown away by the response from the 4WD community! For everyone who couldn't make it, we’ve cut together some highlights from the day - check it out below!
We had some absolutely epic builds turn up for the day. Jase from All 4 Adventure brought Swampy along - his 1996 Hilux with 46 inch extreme mud terrain 4WD tyres. Shauno from 4WD24/7 brought Sooty along (the hardest working 80 series in the country). Justin from Patriot Campers were there with a fleet of vehicles…including the Mega 6x6 (an absolute beast LC79), and the world famous Black Truck! The Australian Bushman Jamie Hazelden, brought out the big guns with his massive Mitsubishi Canter build, complete with buggy and tinny (remind me to ask him for a lend of that monster tourer next time we head to the cape). Sea & Land Adventures towed in a 7.8m Performance Plate Boat (another one we wouldn’t mind borrowing), as always we had our fan favourite vintage Willy Jeep on display, and much much more.
Sam Eyles revealed his long anticipated 80 series build, an old car with a new vibe - the Vancruiser! This intensely customised 1996 80 Series took over 8 months to complete. The 2 door panel truck conversion boasts a 200 series front end, a 79 series bonnet, a 640HP turbo 1FZ, full air ride suspension, and a modern interior. We love the retro 70s panel van vibe, and the front end is epic. It’s getting around town now, so keep an eye out. He’s taken it up the coast for it’s first beach recently too - so check out his channel for the goods!
On top of all of the epic vehicles and guests bouncing around, we also had Power Station Co Suzuki serving up coffee from their coffee Suzuki, Your Mates Brewing serving up locally brewed craft beer from their colourful tap trailer, and Blue Hope Support Services cooking up a sausage sizzle! Thanks to everyone who made donations for a MAXTRAX Army helmet for the kids, a coffee, or a Your Mates beverage - all proceeds from the day went to Blue Hope!
You might have been lucky enough to drive Black Bear Tyres Australia’s racing simulator which was tucked behind the showroom. This virtual experience put you behind the wheel of a race car on the track. With three fully immersive screens and high powered speakers, it was easy to forget you were still in the parking lot. With Black Bear giving away a merch pack for the fastest lap, we had more than a few contestants. There were a few crashes, but luckily no injuries!
We’d like to say a big thank you to all of the 4WD & Outdoor brands below that came, showcased their products and participated on the day - as well as everyone who contributed to the lucky door prizes. We gave away over 50 prizes from 25 epic brands - everything from gift vouchers to 4x4 gear to 4WDing courses! (winners were contacted directly in October and prizes have been organised).
